Women and youth poverty is still rampant with the participation of this population segment
largely neglected in development agenda. For women and youth to benefit in the SDGs context, significant efforts need to be placed around economic empowerment pillar. Gains made from trade are significant and a sure panacea to the endemic poverty experienced by women and youth in Kenya. It is therefore poignant to note that women and youth’s economic empowerment is overly sidelined due to a myriad challenges at all levels. To address this, emphasis must be laid upon SDG 5 (gender equality), SDG 8 (economic inclusion) and SDG 16 (just, peaceful and inclusive society). Global Partnerships Organization (GPO) is committed to strengthening the implementation of gender and youth specific SDGs targets.
